Meet the Team

Craig Pethebridge - Badminton Coaching Melbourne

Craig Petherbridge

BWF Professional Coach & Badminton Enthusiast

I have been coaching badminton for over 20 years with experience competing at a national level. As a player, I had the privilege of being coached by most successful badminton Olympian, Anna Lao. When I lived in China for nearly a year I was personally coached by former Chinese elite player and former World No.1, Xiong Guo Bao, who was known as the backhand King and won numerous international singles titles in the late 1980s.

I’ve worked with elite players, schools, universities and various clubs by teaching new skills and advanced badminton techniques, and helping players to win more matches.

I coach because I want to be a positive and confident role model for developing badminton players, and provide an equal opportunity for everyone to learn the sport. Badminton, in my opinion, is a fantastic game that also offers a host of other opportunities to build self-esteem, learn about fair play, developing skills, and meeting people from all different backgrounds.

Over the years I’ve also realised the traditional coaching methods I’d been taught growing up don’t always work for a lot of badminton players (especially those that haven’t played much before). The Badminton Hub is a way to work with and share the methods that I’ve had success with, with a larger audience from all over the world.
